Synopsis

Having ascended the throne for the second time upon the death of his father Murat II, Mehmet II's first priority is to annex Constantinople, the last territory of the Byzantine Empire, to the Ottoman Empire. Whatever needs to be done for this cause, the young sultan will not waive any of them... The film, which starts in 1451, when Mehmet the Conqueror, who brought the Ottoman Empire to the empire, was still planning to take Istanbul, claims to be the biggest historical-heroic project ever filmed. The film, which also features 3D animations, is produced and directed by Faruk Aksoy, while Atilla Engin and İrfan Saruhan, who penned the script, are accompanied by a large team of advisors including Prof. Dr. Feridun Emecen, Assoc. Dr. Hülya Tezcan, Assoc. Dr. Gülgün Köroğlu, and art historian Massimo Farinelli. The film, whose production process started in September 2009 and was completed in January 2012, was screened in the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, France, the UK, Switzerland and the Turkish Republic of Cyprus in addition to Turkey.
